So far I have shown you that, in the utterance of this seribe, there is something very hopeful; but our blessed Master is not deceived by glitter, he looks for gold. He does not seem to answer to this man’s words; it is a way that Christ has, you will notice, all through the Gospels, that often he does not reply to men’s words. You and I have to do that, but Jesus read their thoughts, and he answered their thoughts rather than their words. So he read this man’s thoughts; and we, too, may read them,
